Dreaming Of Peace
08/11/05

How many times have you been told, that it won't be long till you get old
A prayer can sooth a troubled soul & to let your heart be free
Remember when you were but a child & even the tamest bug seemed wild?
Many a night a restless child, alone on a barren sea
Oh what would you give to live once more, childhood as it was before?
No bill collectors at your door & never you two shall meet
I dream of a day when across the land, we all join together hand in hand
On every shore, every child, woman & man will be dancing in the street
Up to the heavens our voices lifted, over the mountaintops they drifted
Songs of triumph, songs of glory, songs to tell our precious story

Life has finally come to be what we've prayed for throughout history
I'm glad I've lived long enough to see, all races joined in harmony
Finally I awake from slumber, yawn & stretch & stare in wonder, If…
Ever such dream shall come to pass & we all live free at last

Incarceration
08/29/05

After the rain & the storm both subside
& the carnivals closed the last one of its rides
You find yourself waiting with nothing to do
& with no real objective for you to pursue
in boredom your choices are haste fully made
all you need now is someone to persuade
a partner in crime as they say just in case
you end up being caught up at some time or place
to collaborate your side of the story exact
to be first on the scene to keep your story in tact
when authorities threaten to take you to jail
lock you up with Big Poppa & make your life hell
he can beg some of his friends to help you make bail
just in case the cops don't believe the lies you both tell
After they arrest you they take you to booking
They tell you to strip down & then they start looking
in creases & crevasses that have never seen light
& God knows who'll you'll have to bunk with tonight
but before you're put in what they call population
they put you in seclusion a sort of probation
while your already locked up so that they can see
how much of a threat you are going to be
to you or somebody else that may bump into you
that might want to screw you or otherwise do you
with the shank they have hidden up under one arm
either for his protection or to cause someone harm
he's got a life sentence, knows that he'll never leave
he'd just as well shank you as listen to you breath.

When Prince Charming Is Harming
10/15/05

When Prince charming is harming you what can you do?
You married for better or worse yes its true
But the better seems farther & it's worse every day
You never thought he'd ever treat you this way
In sickness & health were the vows that you took
Now you get sick when he gives you that look
That look of annoyance that comes to his face
When ever he's pissed & been drinking a trace
He gets so demanding & down right irate
Leaving you once more to question your fate
You know how he gets cause you've seen it before
The last time you saw it was near the front door
When he didn't like the tone in your voice or the sound
So he back handed you & knocked you to the ground
The time before that when you spent all day sweating
Inside a hot kitchen so he would be getting
A hot meal as soon as he walked in the door
But he burnt his tongue on it & started to roar
But you jumped up to comfort your prince of a man
& he just knocked you down with one big heavy hand
Forsaking all others you give him your all
While he gives all his time to the boys & football
He calls you to tell you to bring drinks & snacks
While he & his buddies go over the facts
The plays & the strategies, that's all you hear
Unless he's screaming for you to bring them more beer
You do as you're told & you never complain
You'd rather just do it then deal with the pain
Of being beat up by the man that you chose to marry
You're too scared to tell him of the baby you carry
You must pick the right moment when he's in the right mood
But during the game you don't want to intrude
So you just bide your time hoping you get to tell
Before the next time he hurts you & makes your life hell

The Country
12/08/05

All I ever really wanted
was a house in the woods
A place where I could live good
I thought that was understood
A place to sit back in solitude
& just let life pass me by
I wasn't raised out in the country
but was willing to try
To live my life with a pitchfork
like they did on Green Acres
Away from the big city's movers & shakers
So I moved out to Waldorf Maryland
just south of DC
And here is just a little bit
about what's happened to me
My girlfriend's a redneck
her folks are all racist
They know to keep quiet
but it shows on their faces
Their necks are still crimson
right down to their shoulder
They aren't getting better
although they get older
Yeah I'm intimidating
that much I confess
But when I see them coming
I don't puff out my chest
My style never changes
from one day to the next
As they all seem to hope for
or seem to expect
But I'm going to be me
every day of my life
Rather she stays my girlfriend
or I make her my wife
If you don't like things about me
here I am come confront me
Cause as you see I'm here to stay
& I'm not leaving your country
After all what made it yours?
Christopher Columbus? He stole it!
Indians were here when he got here
he took their land & he sold it
So now I battle the Japanese beetles & ticks
to try grow my azaleas out here in the sticks
my life isn't hostile although I grow Hastahs
I'm better with plants then people
because plants aren't imposters
I spend all my time just beautifying the yard
& when I look at all the benefits
it's really not hard
to see why I chose the country
where the living is good
on my 3.2 acres
in a house in the woods
I do what I want to on it
& that's just too cool
If I get over heated
then I jump in the pool
If I don't want to be bothered
I'm in a funk or a fog
Then I stay in my yard
& just hang out with my dog
& when I feel a bit playful
then there's the pool parlor
but we just play to beat each other
never gamble for dollar
So my life in the country
is what I want it to be
My friends all call it Green Acres
& That's quite all right with me

The True Reason For The Season
12/17/05

The Holiday Season has once again come
we hustle & hurry & run to & from
to the Mall & the market, the bakers, the stores
buying last minute presents & finishing chores
The Season just keeps us so busy it seems
That we don't take the time to realize what it means

Christmas or Christ-mas or the Birthday of Christ
& most in the season won't think of that twice
but the Santa's & reindeer & elves do abound
in every store window in each part of town
we cut down young pine trees to decorate at home
but Saint Nick can't replace not one when they're gone
People are caring & filled with good cheer
& concerned for each other as they should be all year

The registers ring up the millions of bucks
on the presents for loved ones, the dolls & toy trucks
Game Boys & Play Stations & big-ticket items
Decorated so nicely & sure to excite them
But how many of the masses & millions spent
Buy a birthday card for Jesus & make sure that it's sent?
To The Pearly Gates of Heaven where within he waits
For his people to remember what we celebrate

The birth of a Savior the coming of a king
That holiest night when the angels did sing
Of a birth in a manger for the Inns had no space
& A star shown down on this uncommon birth place
Wise men & King's men did fallow that star
Bringing presents & gifts & good tidings from far

They came out on camels & a boy played his drum
Because all he could give was his rump a pom pom
As the star shown down on them, its glow strong & bright
the Shepherds arrived on this Oh Holy Night
for they too had seen the bright star in the east
as they guarded their herds & gave tend to their beast

The Little Town of Bethlehem did host that day
a baby, a savior, asleep in the hay
So as you hurry getting ready for Christmas morn
Just remember that in Bethlehem a king was born
That's the reason for this season & if you really believe it
By Christ a birthday card & mail it & pray in time he'll receive it

Ugly
12/23/05

You were sitting on a gold mine
with no shovel to dig
Dating a girl with tri-focal
ball headed with a wig
Curves like a syrup bottle
& her feet were too damned big
You took her to the nightclub
she tried to dance a jig

You took her for a makeover
on the Maury show
One quick look at her features
& the producer said hell no
He said I'm not in the field
of reconstructive surgery
Getting help for her
requires that you go further than me
You need construction labor's grinders
& a plainer for sure
Just to grind down her toe nails
for a French pedicure
They'll need a case of Just for men
to help get rid of the gray
That looked crappy
like a big old nappy halo every day
The girl has bunions big as onions
& she's pigeon toed too
Corns & calluses & fungus
in a size fourteen shoe
She had bags above her feet
that I referred to as kankles
at sixteen pounds a piece
you just can't see them as ankles
she had a squatty little body
that was bout as tall as round
when she stood up she looked like
Alfred Hitchcock sitting down
she had a booty in front
two extra knees in the back
& a bubble in her cleavage
that looked like a butt crack
Her lips were so big
they tripped her up when she spoke
& she was always the brunt
of every Mick jagger joke
with a continuous dandruff
that kept her head itching
& Ringworms so big
you could use them for fishing
she had a permanent rash
that she blamed on psoriasis
but its only in her crotch area
please tell me why is this?
she was missing her neck
her chin went straight to her chest
she had a fro around her nipples
so I didn't say breast
she had a forest on her thighs
that she had never once shaved
& kept a medicine bottle
of all the blackheads she'd saved
Friends called her wobbly bubble head
& Freda Flintstone
From her earliest childhood
& now that she's grown
She's a pleasure to talk to
when you speak on the phone
But in face-to-face meetings
they were soon to be gone

Old Dear Friends And Familiar Faces
01/01/06

Dusty roads leading to far away places
Peculiar looks on familiar faces
From a time gone by & friends once known
Familiarity faded & remembrance gone
Time ticks down for another friend
As another life reaches another dead end
You ask your self where the time all went
& Where were all the empty hours spent
When you needed somebody to lend an ear
Or you thought you'd feel better
just having them near
To see your friend like this was not your desire
As you look down on them in your morning attire
& You ask their forgiveness for how could you know
That you'd say final goodbyes before another hello
I'll keep you in memories my dear friend
Until one day when we meet again
On dusty roads leading to far away places
For old dear friends & familiar faces

Take Time Out
01/15/06

Take time out to say you love her
Take time out to show you care
Hold her closer when she's near
& let her know you need her there
Take the extra time to please her
Include her in the things you do
Go that extra mile to show her
Just how much she means to you
take the time to compliment her
if you don't somebody will
& if she gives you butterflies
Let her know just how you feel
Take a moment to surrender
Take a day to honor love
Take a Sunday just to worship
What God has sent from up above
Take the time to send the message
That she's loved in every way
& she'll reciprocate the feeling
that you make her feel each day
Take time out to smell the roses
Take time to enjoy the view
& if I get another chance
I'll take the time to
spend with you

Crazy Loven Lies
02/01/06

Looking for a one & only
cause you're tired of being lonely
You decide to have a night out on the town
Where you're sure to meet a cutie
& you hope she has a booty
just as long as it's not dragging on the ground
So you spend about ten minutes
seeing what the club has in it
before she caught the corner of your eye
She was cute & you were feeling
from her wink that she was willing
& you weren't going to let this chance go by
Oh you're sure you've found a winner
So you take her out to dinner
& you buy that sweet thing prime rib by the pound
she's just sweetening up your wallet
call it what you wanna call it
when your moneys gone she's nowhere to be found

CRAZY LOVEN LIES keep my body hypnotized
& my hip hip hips just wont keep still
well you got my motor running
even though your only funning
but I sure wish those sweet lies were real

Now the club is finally closing
& if not you'd be proposing
even though you've only known her since tonight
But she's just your type of woman
If she leads you then you're coming
If she kissed you you'd squeal with shear delight

CRAZY LOVEN LIES keep my body hypnotized
now my big feet just can't touch the ground
I've been floating since I met her
was my destiny to get her
& I hope I don't ever come down

Love Lost
03/12/06

So Long it's been since last we loved
our sweat long dried & stained
the sheets that knew our long embrace
where passion flowed like rain
that washed away the bitterness
I felt deep in my heart
when what brought us together
also tore us both apart
I lie alone awake & wonder
as I listen to night's song
How could what have been so right
have gone so badly wrong?
Wrong is how it ended up
wrong is how it is
wrong is lying down
on pillows wet from salty tears
Tears cried out in anguish
loneliness & grief
grief for love now missing
as if stolen by a thief
A thief that has no need for pleasure
one who's only filled with greed
Greed that now deprives you
of what you so badly need
Need that burns like embers
in the bottom of your soul
a soul now cold & empty
knowing no one's there to hold
To hold on to warm memories
that now give you a chill
a chill that racks your body
as it comes & goes at will
Will you run toward love lost
or will you run away?
A way to insure the love you've lost
is yours again someday
